New Sanyo Xacti HD1010 Camcorder has Face Chaser

SANYO introduces the Xacti HD1010 which is an ultra-compact, full 1920 x 1080 (1080i) high-definition digital camcorder. It boasts about its “Face Chaser” face detection technology for both video and stills as well as about its new slow-motion video mode. Its seven frames-per-second sequential shooting is good for action photography.

The sleek and stylish camcorder is easy to use and offers 4-megapixel digital still images. It records video and stills to SD memory cards or SDHC cards (sold separately) up to 32GB.

“The SANYO Xacti HD1010 is our second-generation Full HD camcorder and offers a full complement of innovative features such as automatic ‘Face Chaser’ face detection for both video and stills, along with improved image processing for even better image quality2,” said Tom Van Voy, Vice President and General Manager of SANYO’s Audio Video Division. “The HD1010 offers advanced, high-definition video performance and high-quality stills in one small, lightweight device.”

The Sanyo Xacti HD1010 camcorder features a Face Detection/Face Chaser Technology that can recognize up to 12 faces and can monitor the subject’s face to adjust the brightness accordingly. The slow motion video mode can record up to 300 frames per second and 60 fps video playback. It weighs 9.9 ounces and has advanced MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression. It allows 87 minutes of Full HD (1920 x 1080) video recording. Its ergonomic design is easy to handle with “one thumb” operation of all keys. It features a full 1080i HD Sensor, 10x Optical HD Zoom Lens, image stabilization, 2.7 inch display and HDMI High-definition output.

Some of HD1010 Camcorder’s other features are Wind Roar, Red Eye Reduction, Web Cam function, Built-in, pop-up flash, random access without having to rewind or forward the tape, 9-image quick display function, In-camera editing, 48 kHz, 16-bit, 2-channel sound, PictBridge compatible, 1900 mAh Lithium-ion battery (DB-L50) and Headphone Jack. The SANYO Xacti HD1010 is priced at $799.99 and will be available in the US in July 2008.
