Yesterday there were some rumors of Nokia working on an Android based touchscreen that could be revealed later this year. Symbian OS running on the N97 and 5800 fails to convince me personally on its touchscreen capabilities, this might have been a reason for Android being considered. While Nokia was seen at some Android developers event last year, it always denied working on an Android device. And not too much to our surprise they have denied yesterdays rumors aswell.
Nokia has remained focus on Symbian for long, also avoiding Windows Mobile which almost all manufacturers have tried. Nokia is already working an Linux based OS named 'oFono' along with Intel that we believe might power more than just smartphones. If at all Nokia pulls out an Android device at Nokia World conference this coming September, I would be personally surprised.
Update: Apart from Nokia also seems to be working on Maemo platform that currently powers the Internet tablets by Nokia. This can also be the platform that Nokia is looking to expand to its smartphones.
