Here’s a new trend of launching a mobile phone with an exclusive network. Though, the sales are restricted to one carrier only, the trend seems to be very lucrative to both the manufacturer as well as the network operator. For example, the iPhone has proved that its select launch and exclusive carrier policy has been one of the best strategy for higher sales.
Similarly, Samsung has announced the UK launch of its latest mobile phone, called Steel. This slider form handset will be exclusively available through Vodafone.
The Steel features a 2.2-inch screen with 262K colors, HSDPA for better web speeds, a 3-megapixel camera with auto focus, Bluetooth connectivity for transferring images, videos, music, data files with easy, eliminating the need of wires. It also supports microSD cards that will allow users to store up to 8GB.
“With the Samsung Steel we wanted to create a multimedia handset with a timeless appeal and premium feel” stated Mark Mitchinson, Samsung Mobile VP for the UK and Ireland.
Housed in a shiny, metal body, the slider mobile phone also has the ability to record video and incorporates a DAB digital radio, document viewer, conference calling.
Samsung’s Steel slider handset will be seen in the United Kingdom in June this year.
