BlackBerry Pearl 8120 Smartphone Now Available in Canada by Rogers

RIM has collaborated with Rogers to release its very popular BlackBerry smartphone, named Pearl 8120, in the Canadian market. The individuals will now have the opportunity to take advantage of the network operator’s UMA-based Home Calling Zone service to make use of a high speed internet connection and also make unlimited voice calls over a voice optimized wireless router.

The dual-mode Wi-Fi and the special service allow users to flawlessly switch to the cellular network from the home calling or high-speed internet connection in no time.

With the UMA-enabled BlackBerry Pearl 8120, not only will our customers have the benefits of RIM’s world-renowned push email solution, they can also experience the flexibility and convenience using their BlackBerry phone for both home and away, with Rogers Home Calling Zone.”

Shining in an attractive titanium-colored finish, the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone features 2 megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom, built-in flash and video recording capability, USB 2.0 connectivity, media player, 1GB microSD memory card and Bluetooth.

“In addition to Wi-Fi connectivity for both voice and data, the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone offers rich multimedia features and the industry’s leading mobile messaging capabilities in an amazingly compact and stylish design. Additionally, the smartphone also comes pre-installed with Rogers MusicStore to downloading music, Rogers Do More portal to access mobile applications, DataViz Documents to Go to edit Word and PowerPoint files, an enhanced visual interface for viewing text and web pages, and SureType keyboard system that include new word completion and spell check features.

From the BlackBerry services, the phone comes equipped with:

  • BlackBerry Desktop Manager software, that consists of Roxio Media Manager for BlackBerry, a powerful media manager application that allows users to easily manage media files on their computer and transfer them to the smartphone
  • BlackBerry Internet Service support that allows access to up to 10 supported personal and corporate email accounts, including most popular ISP email accounts
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server support for enterprise deployments with advanced security and IT controls
  • Support for the Facebook for BlackBerry Smartphones application, which enables fast, streamlined and optimized mobile access to the popular Facebook social utility

Rogers makes the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone available for Canadian customers for a suggested price of $249.99 (approx. Rs. 10,690).
