In all earlier versions of Windows, every Hardisk's partition comes with a drive letter and you can optionally set drive name as well. But in Windows 7 both drive letter and drive name are optional.
In Windows 7 you can hide/show default drive letters like C:, D:, E: etc. So now just give appropriate names to your drives and hide the drive letters. It looks better than before. Here's how you can do this:-
- Go to Folder Options.
- Select View Tab.
- Search for the checkbox Show drive letters and uncheck it. It must be checked by default.
That's it. You are good to go. From now on, only drive names will be visible and you successfully managed to get rid of those irritating letters.
