Nokia 2600 Classic and 1209 Mobile Phones Enter Indian Market

Nokia 2600 Classic and 1209 Mobile Phones Enter Indian Market

In the beginning of 2008, Nokia introduced two entry-level phones called 2600 Classic and 1209. Now, the Finnish company has announced the availability of both the handsets in the Indian market. Nokia 2600 Classic is known for its exchangeable covers, whereas the 1209 offers multiple phone books, ideal for phone sharing.

These innovative feature-enabled mobile phones have been developed after acknowledging the new phone sharing trend. As per Nokia’s recent survey, over 50% of volunteers in India, 30% of Pakistani respondents and around 30 % in Vietnam prefer sharing their mobile phones with family and friends.

According to Devinder Kishore Director, Marketing, Nokia India, “Phone sharing is a logical trend - more and more families are purchasing a mobile phone for the entire family to use, not just the head of the household. In addition, digital cameras are quickly becoming more popular in these markets, and as such taking and sharing digital images is becoming more common. In response, Nokia has developed a number of innovative features like the multiple phonebook to support phone sharing, and we have added technologies like Bluetooth to some models to make transferring images and ringtones easy and affordable.”

The basic features of Nokia 2600 Classic include built-in FM radio, a VGA camera, support MMS and Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging to record and edit messages while traveling. In terms of phone sharing function, the phone allows users to personalize the device by using colorful, fully changeable Xpress-on covers and MP3 ringtones.

Nokia’s 1209 entry-level mobile phone sports prepaid tracker - a cost-tracking application, a one-piece key-mat for durability and reliability, a power saver mode and additional cost management features for phone sharing. It also comes with a multiple phonebook, which enables as many as five people to store personal contact lists of up to 200 numbers on a single phone.

Consumers need to shell out Rs. 3539 and Rs. 1789 to buy the Nokia 2600 Classic and Nokia 1209 mobile phones, repsectively.
