Get Trophies and in-game XMB on Sony PS3 firmware Update v2.40!

Get Trophies and in-game XMB on Sony PS3 firmware Update v2.40!

After PSP firmware update 4.00, Sony has reportedly planned to introduce a slew of software updates for the PlayStation 3 gaming console. However, there is no official word by Sony yet. This report was noticed on a Sony PlayStation blog, posted by Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations. The latest Sony PS3 v2.40 firmware update will offer support for the most anticipated XMB in-game main menu interface as well as a Trophies reward system.

Predicted to be similar to the Xbox Achievements system, the upcoming Trophies will allow gamers to gain awards with points for their performance in games and online matches. Sadly, gamers currently have to quit the game or alternatively stop video playback if they are willing to access the XMB. To do away with the same, Sony’s 2.40 version should be released soon.

Players will then be able to access the PS3’s XMB, or main menu during gameplay. Here, they will have the freedom to interact with friends through chat, invite them into multiplayer matches and also send them messages.

However, the release date of the Sony PlayStation’s version of 2.40 update is not yet known.

Mobile Phones help to Analyze Historical and Real-Time Location Data

Mobile Phones help to Analyze Historical and Real-Time Location Data

Sense Networks has announced the launch of its two new applications; one is software (Macrosense) that powers patent-pending technology to analyze historical and real-time location data; and other is the alpha version of the real-time social navigation and nightlife discovery application (Citysense).

Greg Skibiski, CEO and co-founder of Sense Networks, stated, “The Macrosense platform enables an entirely new business model for location based services. Location data is monetized by companies and investors who receive value from understanding emerging trends in real-time, while consumers receive compelling applications free of intrusive mobile advertising, remaining completely anonymous.”

Macrosense has been developed to gather ample amount of information on unidentified locations that can be directly seen on the mobile phones and automobiles. The platform influences machine learning technology that examines the new data point in the context of billions of historic location data points. A perfect platform for companies and investors, it can calculate cumulative consumer behavior and discover macro trends in regards to spending and sentiment in real-time.

“Just as Google indexed pages on the Internet to optimize web discovery, Sense Networks has indexed the real places in a city and characterized them by activity, versus proximity or demographics, to better understand the context of consumers’ offline behavior. Due to the high dimensionality of location and time data, Sense Networks had to develop a revolutionary approach to effectively reduce the number of dimensions and scale the system,” maintained Tony Jebara, Chief Scientist, co-founder of Sense Networks, and Director of the Machine Learning Laboratory at Columbia University.

The innovative Citysense claims to show people’s nightlife hotspots in real-time. It will be easy for users to spot the busiest places. This application also allows owners to get another option of only viewing places with uncommonly high activity based on years of historic data. Users will appreciate the function of one-click search of nightlife activities and restaurants in the real-time hotspot from Google and Yelp. Initially, this tool is applicable in the city of San Francisco.

Sandy Pentland, Chief Privacy Advocate, co-founder of Sense Networks, and Director of Human Dynamics Research at MIT, said, “Citysense demonstrates the power of combining anonymous, aggregate location data for social navigation. The idea is similar to automobile GPS systems sharing and pooling current road speed conditions so that everyone can avoid congestion.”

CitySense map application will soon be available on the iPhone. At present, it is accessible on BlackBerry phones.

Cell Phone Usage informs People Never Stray Far From Home

Cell Phone Usage informs People Never Stray Far From Home

People seem to have lost their wanderlust. Now, the cell-phone tracking study suggests that people rarely stray far away from families areas. You must be wondering how researchers recorded the new finding! It’s not through some software or technical product. They tracked the calls of 10,000 people from around six million mobile phone users in an undisclosed country, over a period of six month.

Marta Gonzalez of Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts is the study’s lead author. She said that the main purpose of this research is to help urban planners who are addressing problems as varied as traffic forecasting and emergency preparedness.

Researchers recorded each time the outgoing and incoming calls and even text messages of the volunteers. They were able to get the location of the users through the tower servicing. They also tracked calls to two locations that were most frequently being used. It was noticed that the calls were made to and from home and work, which is at the distance of under a five-kilometer radius or area around the tower. Marta stated the people were found close to their home.

For easy reference, 70 percent of mobile phone users were seem in two locations most of the time (20-mils radius), whereas less than 3 percent of people ventured beyond 200 miles radius, and 1 percent of volunteer traveled 621-miles radius from home.

Gonzalez mentioned that they are assuming the two preferred location are their homes and office places. They aren’t sure whether the two locations are specifically their work place and home.

We believe that this restriction of unidentified volunteers is basically due to the privacy issues involved. However, they have successfully tracked human mobility with the help of the mobile phone. People preferred staying near by to their living area. Is it may be they are homesick or the traveling issue is the cause of concern?

Football is back in the picture. Fans must be excited to again refresh their memories. But this time, you do not have to watch or play the game, but you have to manage it as a manager does! How does it sound? It is certainly a great opportunity. Called the MCM (Mobile Club Manager) Eur’08 mobile football management game, this mobile game is part of a new international football tournament that includes England. Interestingly, it is a free trial game.

Play the role of the football manager that represents England or any other top 15 European teams and test the managing skills. You are expected to select the players, train them and also work on the formations and tactics. Train them as a squad or as individuals with the help of a plethora of special interactive offline training games such as weight-training, shot stopping and ball control.

Would-be football managers have to be careful while training their players as if they are over-trained, fatigue will set in. But if trained properly, then they can perform well and win the match. Everything is depended on the managers’ strategies and key decisions along with the team sheet submitted to MCM.

All the blow-by-blow updates of the real time MCM Eur’08 game and their players’ progress will be received to the managers through SMS. The winning depends on the managerial skills.
